Flatbed truck The flatbed truck is a carrier whose frame is covered by a platform which can be fitted with drop sides that can be folded down to the sides to hold the cargo. A flatbed truck fitted with sides and a tarpaulin is called a Savoyard truck.
Platform carriers sometimes have an auxiliary crane attached to the front or rear of the platform, which allows goods to be loaded and unloaded. Some flatbed trucks are low, raised or extendable depending on the type of cargo they are carrying.
There are tray carriers designed for a specific use: brewer, iron holder, straw holder, gas holder or panel holder. The brewer tray, usually covered, can contain drinks in the form of barrels or pallets of bottles. The iron carrier platform allows long metal bars or railway sleepers to be transported. The straw tray is used to move a large quantity of straw bales. The gas tray is equipped to transport gas cylinders, and the panel tray is used to move flat and rectangular objects (eg advertising signs).
