Mercedes SK - Truck Mercedes SKSK is a range of trucks and heavy tractors developed by Mercedes from 1988 to 1998. The Schwere Klasse (heavy range) replaces the NG range (Neue Generation) launched in 1973.
Equipped with a V6 or V8 engine meeting the requirements of Euro 1 and then Euro 2 standards, the Mercedes SK has a power ranging from 260 to 530 horsepower. It is one of the first trucks to benefit from EPS (Electronic Power Shift) and EDC (Electronic Diesel Control) technologies: the EPS allows electronic gear changing, and the EDC aims to optimize engine operation. .
A carrier with two or three axles, the SK can support a GVWR of 16 to 22 tonnes. The SK 1748 LS tractor ('LS' for 'Luftfederung Sattelschlepper': pneumatic suspension tractor) was in its time the most powerful in Europe: equipped with the OM442 V8 492 hp engine, it was voted "Truck of the year" in 1990.
In 1998 the SK range was replaced by the Actros.
