MAN Trucks&Bus invests to connect the world of transportation
The German truck constructor MAN invested up to 8.5 million in the U.S. startup FR8 Revolution Inc. The firm is specialized in the connected transportation industry and offers technological solutions in order to improve the Supply Chain. In concrete terms, FR8 Revolution has invented an IT-platform which is able to manage relations between truck drivers and their vehicles. By investing in this startup, MAN extends its skills in the IT sector.
An innovative startup
After its participation to the European Truck Platooning Challenge, MAN has decided to take further steps in its investments in the digital sector. The truck manufacturer, which also produces coach and bus engines, has purchased the FR8 Revolution startup based in Silicon Valley, California, U.S.A.
Among other things, the developed IT-platform allows to work out a budget plan, to plan driver’s routes, and optimize travel time and empty returns. The FR8 system aims to support all parties involved in MRT's and allows the driver to access to real-time data.
MAN: a constructor concerned by digital
Today in logistics and transportation sectors, all parties involved in MRT's are not necessarily linked to each other. By investing in this startup, MAN gives its European carriers the opportunity to benefit from this brand new platform. FR8 will contribute to the development of the European MRT and will improve companies’ results. While the digital innovation is already central for MAN, the firm continues to invest in the area in order to contribute to the MRT digital revolution.
