Kässbohrer opens new factory in Ulm
European semi-trailer Kässbohrer just opened a brand new factory in Achstetten, Germany. The new factory is close to where the company was established 123 years ago, near Ulm.
An impressive inauguration
On July 5th, 2017 took place the inauguration of the brand new factory with Karlhubert Dischinger (CEO of VSL-BW), but also Karin Schütz (Secretary of state), as well as Ulm's mayor : Martin Bendel. Kässbohrer organised the meeting of the most important associations of the industry, for instance the VSL-BW – Verband Spedition und Logistik – Baden-Württemberg. Moreover, different commercial partners from 15 countries were present. Thus, the semi-trailer and trailer manufacturer could show off its international success. More than 300 attendees were there, with suppliers such as DEKR, WABCO and BPW.
M. Alper Aydin, marketing director, presided the opening cerenomy. The day was punctuated by different conferences, such as autonomous driving and digitisation. Different open discussions have also punctuated the opening day. Moreover, the guests could visit the installations.
Ulm, a strategic location
The choice of the company's home town for a second factory is a strategic choice. Ulm is located in the south-west of Germany. It is 200km from Strasbourg, France. The new factory wants to become the biggest customer service team for spare parts in South Europe.
A preview of 4 new products
The inauguration was also the preview for 4 new products : the K.SCP X, which is a semi-trailer with slidding curtains and a floor with unique design : it is the perfect semi-trailer for paper rolls transport. The K.SCA (air cargo curtainsider) made for the transport of air fret pallets with a useful load reduced by 250 kg. The K.SHF T is new chassis for all types of tanks with great manoeuvrability and the new K.SKS tipper with reinforced chassis and a V structure to ease the freight unloading.
