A next-generation DAF 6x6 military truck
The Brussels European Defence Exhibition & Conference (BEDEX) took place from March 12 to 14, 2026, in Brussels (Belgium). Among the exhibitors, DAF Trucks, Tatra Trucks and VDL Groep used this European defence-focused event to unveil a new 6x6 military truck model.
Designed for harsh conditions
The DAF 6x6 military truck features all-wheel drive, allowing it to move easily regardless of terrain conditions. Its central load-bearing tubular chassis, independent suspension system for each wheel, and CTIS solution (central tire inflation system) also ensure driving comfort in all circumstances.
The version presented at BEDEX 2026 featured an armored cab capable of withstanding ballistic attacks or mine blasts. It can be replaced with a civilian DAF cab already used on other models from the manufacturer. Appreciated for its spaciousness, it offers proven durability. Access is also made easier thanks to a low-floor design.
A cooperative development
DAF Trucks, Tatra Trucks and VDL Groep formed a partnership several years ago aimed at developing new military vehicles. For this project, Tatra, for example, designed the all-wheel drive system and the armored cab. DAF, for its part, produces the PACCAR MX-13 engine and the civilian cab. Its dealer network also handles maintenance of these trucks used by the Belgian army. VDL Groep equips the vehicles with various compatible and durable superstructures. The DAF 6x6 on display, for example, featured a CargoBody unit adapted for military use.
