Mercedes-Benz Custom Tailored Trucks: 25 years of bespoke customization
Mercedes-Benz Custom Tailored Trucks (CTT) celebrates its 25th anniversary. Located in Alsace (France), this site with 600 employees specializes in custom truck conversions, in collaboration with other plants of the group.
Tailored to every demand
Since its creation in 2000, CTT has modified the brand’s vehicles to meet customers’ specific needs. Its teams have the expertise to work on all aspects of configuration (chassis, cab, axles, wheelbase, adaptations for heavy-duty transport, integration of battery-electric propulsion, etc.). They also manufacture series parts and Unimog cabs.
To carry out its various missions, CTT relies on a network of partners, all based in Germany (S&G Automobil AG, F&B Nutzfahrzeug-Technik GmbH, Werner Forst- & Industrietechnik Scharf GmbH, Eggers Fahrzeugbau GmbH, Paul Nutzfahrzeuge GmbH, BICKEL-TEC GmbH, and TITAN Spezialfahrzeugbau GmbH). This choice facilitates coordination and reduces transport times, directly contributing to the reduction of environmental impacts.
325,000 customized vehicles: some examples
In 25 years, CTT has modified 325,000 vehicles later used in 140 countries. It recently received a major order from Bundeswehr Fuhrpark Service GmbH. The goal is to equip several Mercedes-Benz Arocs 6×6 trucks, directly as they leave the assembly lines at the Wörth-am-Rhein (Germany) plant, with features useful to the army. The specialized unit has also converted several hundred Autobahn GmbH vehicles from two to three axles and worked with a Berlin waste management company to make trucks more compact.
