Renault Trucks : the new Optidriver Xtended gearbox

Renault Trucks just announced the launch of a brand new gearbox on the C and K ranges. With this new gearbox, the driver will have one or two more gears before the first one.

True progress for C and K range vehicles

This innovation is mainly for clients working in particular conditions. Indeed, the precision of the additional gears will make it easier for the heavy vehicle to move at very low speed (less than 2 km/h). It even adds to the driving comfort and helps start the truck when heavy loaded on rough terrains.  In the long term, this gearbox will help decrease the exploitation and maintenance costs, thanks to a smart clutch management, which will increase the lifespan. It also increases safety on construction sites.

    Two Optidriver Xtended options available

Renault Trucks has made two versions of this new gearbox in order to meet the specific needs of clients. The first one, named Over Drive, has 13 gears. Its characteristics are ideal to move heavy loads. They are made for jobs in the construction industry, heavy transport industry (more than 80 tons) and any other activities needing a slow and constant move of truck (such as sweepers or spreaders). The second one is named Direct Drive and has 14 gears. It has been developped to adapt and be performant in any extreme situation. This version showcases its potential and efficiency on terrains such as mines, quarries, forests or oil and gas exploitations.

Renault Trucks will be attending the 2017 Solutrans exhibition where vehicles are already displayed.
