The Swedish truck manufacturer launches a new promo campaign by giving a Volvo FH for the reality series « Reality Road », which follows singer Mapei through Europe.

After the success of their original advertising campaigns such as « The Hamster Stunt », in which a hamster drove a Volvo FMX truck, or « The Epic Split », where we saw Jean-Claude Van Damme do the spilt between two Volvo FM trucks, the Swedish truck manufacturer tries reality tv. In « Reality Road », Volvo Trucks supplied a Volvo FH truck specially made to road trip through Europe with Swedish-american singer Mapei, who launched to fame in 2007 with her song  « Video Vixens ». This reality series of 8 episodes will be broadcast during three weeks starting June 11th on the Volvo Trucks YouTube channel.

A precise driver for the Volvo FH

Truck driver Jens Karlsson, who already demonstrated his driving abilities in the ad with JCVD, will be driving the Volvo truck which will be used for the reality series. For 9 days, he will be with singer Mapei and director Liza Minou Morberg by driving 4000 km through Sweden, Poland, Germany, France, Switzerland and Italy. « In the serie, my mission is to drive the vehicle, and ensures that the trip accross Europe takes place in the best safety conditions and show what it means to be a truck driver  », he says.

A truck two wheel stunt in Berlin

Along the way, she will perform with drag artists on a truck ferry going to Poland, find herself pulling off a spontaneous show in the Parisian’ suburbs, stop in an abandonned house in Varsaw or witness to an awesome two wheel stunt in Berlin, Mapei will shoot the video for her next single « Million Ways to Live ». This song is part of her next album, which is out November 2015, after the success of her album  « Hey Hey », released in 2014 in the USA and in Sweden with songs such as « Don’t Wait » et « Change ».

Volvo Trucks wants to reach as many people as possible in an entertaining way

« We are the first company to use reality tv as a marketing tool », says Per Nilsson, director of public affairs for Volvo Trucks. With this reality series, the manufacturer wants to reach as many people as possible and show them what they have to offer. « In order to avoid any standstills, the services associated with it are as important as the vehicle itself », reminds us Per Nilsson, and « at the same time, we want to produce an entertaining program for a broad audience ».
