The new Volvo FH sold on Ebay for 150.000€ !
Unveiled during the 2012 IAA motor show in Hannover, the first Volvo FH tractor unit produced was auctioned off on Ebay on September 19th, 2012. After a 10 day long auction, this unique model of the Volvo FH series was finally won by Jean-Pierre Ducourneau, the CEO of Transports Ducournau , for 150.000€. This amount of money is higher than the market price and exceeded the Volvo Trucks manufacturers’ expectations. It will be completely given to the Star for Life charity in South Africa.

The totality of the auctions given to a charity
The auction started at 1€ on the famous auction website Ebay, for a 10 day period, Volvo Trucks’ goal was to get as much money as possible for the Star for Life association. This charity tries to prevent the propagation of HIV to young people in South Africa. The auctions interested 35 bidders from Europe, Russia, Turkey and Israel. The price of the new Volvo FH tractor unit skyrocketed. After 95 bids, the final bid came to 150.000€.
The first tractor unit of the Volvo FH series won by Jean-Pierre Ducournau
Finally, it is the founder and CEO of Transports Ducournau that won this new Volvo FH D13 460HP Globetrotter XL tractor unit. Deeply invested in charities, Jean-Pierre Ducournau was already the owner of the first ever Volvo F12 tractor unit. The new Volvo FH tractor unit is a collector. Indeed, this unique and high-end model sports the mention “number one” on the windshield. In Spring 2013, the Volvo FH will be incorporated in the Transports Ducournau fleet, already made of 300 Volvo trucks.
