The 2012 RAI: The Amsterdam truck show is coming back big time!

After 5 years of absence, the RAI show, also known as The European Road Transport Show took place in Amsterdam, from 16 to 21 April, 2012. From now on, this international truck show should run again in the same period every second year. Many truck manufacturers, including Mercedes, DAF, Scania, Iveco, etc., were happy to join the organizers' team and present their new products.

After 5 years of absence, the RAI show, also known as The European Road Transport Show took place in Amsterdam, from April 16 to April 21st, 2012. From now on, this international truck show should take place again every two years. Many truck manufacturers, including Mercedes, DAF, Scania, Iveco etc., were happy to respond to the organizers' invitation and to present their new products.

Energy savings and cost-efficiency - the main concern of the truck manufacturers participating in the 2012 RAI

For Iveco, the 2012 RAI show was a perfect opportunity to present its Stralis LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas). This source of energy guarantees a much greater range for Iveco trucks, that can reach up to 750 km. The Italian manufacturer is proud to announce that 11,000 LNG-powered Iveco trucks are circulating nowadays on our roads. As for Mercedes-Benz, the manufacturer presented at the 2012 RAI its brand-new Actros truck with a particular focus on its fuel efficiency.

The Euro 6 norm, a major challenge for this 2012 RAI edition

Mercedes and Scania are way ahead their competitors when it comes to introducing the Euro 6 norm. The Mercedes Actros, as well as the G- and R-series ranges of the Scania trucks are already equipped with engines that consistently meet the new emissions requirements. As for DAF, the 2012 RAI show was the site of the official launch of its new 6-cylinder engine, a 12.9 litre PACCAR MX-13, which complies with the strict Euro 6 emission requirements.

Trucks were in the spotlight

The Dutch know how to make truly beautiful trucks, and this edition of the 2012 RAI show was a perfect opportunity to show them off. At the Amsterdam show, the truck specialists GINAF (recently purchased by the Chinese CHTC) and Terberg, both manufacturing multi-axle trucks, have presented their new vehicles models based on DAF and Volvo components. But the most impressive image of this 2012 RAI show was the De Rooy Iveco Trakker truck, the winner of the Dakar race on display on the Iveco stand.
