New Hyundai iLoad promises to help cut costs

Hyundai's new iLoad Comfort panel van is now available. It claims to offer owners an economically priced vehicle which includes many standard features that are priced options for its competitors.

The 1,000kg-payload rear-wheel-drive van is based on the company's i800 people carrier and comes with 4.3m³ of load space, twin sliding side doors, two glazed rear doors (180º opening) and an on-the-road price tag of £14,280 (ex-VAT). The firm said not only is the iLoad one of the cheapest vans in its class, it also has one of the highest standard specifications, a 2.3-tonne braked towing capacity (750kg unbraked) and a 100,000-mile/five-year warranty.

In order to restrain unit costs, Hyundai has limited the range to a single 114hp/343Nm diesel engine and a single body style but the iLoad Comfort comes with air-con, powered windows, twin airbags, ABS, electric mirrors, CD with Aux input and a windowed full-height steel bulkhead as standard. Options include a six-seater window van (around £2,000 on-cost), electronic stability programme (£450) and Smartnav (£509) along with tinted glass and a variety of paint finishes.

For those really looking to cut costs, there is a 'Classic' version, which is around £600 cheaper but comes without a passenger airbag, air-con or electric mirrors.
