Scania launches accident management scheme
As new truck sales are winding down, Scania is stepping up its assault on the lucrative UK aftermarket business with the launch of a new, full 'vehicle-recovery-to-vehicle-return' accident management service, along with its latest fixed-price repair scheme on 3-Series and 4-Series trucks.
The accident management service is aimed particularly at small-to-medium-sized fleet operators that lack the in-house resources to handle the fall-out from a vehicle accident, and who rely heavily on their insurers to see the process through.
The nationwide service will operate alongside the Swedish truck-maker's Scania Assistance emergency service, and will be provided through its existing UK network of 92 workshops and service centres, which already includes seven specialist bodywork and repair sites with full access to chassis straightening equipment.
Scania aftersales director James Armstrong says: "It originated from discussions with major insurers such as Norwich Union, who were interested to see if a vehicle manufacturer's network could provide a full accident management solution to their clients - and we could." However, he stresses that the service is also open to operators who run other makes.
Scania is also in discussions with a major light commercial vehicle manufacturer to provide accident management for it, too.
Scania's Fixed Price Repairs scheme will cover all parts, labour and consumables for a wide range of common repairs on Scania G, P, R, 4- and 3-Series trucks. Under the scheme a number of special promotional offers run until June 2009 with typical savings of up to 25% off the list price of repairs to brakes, clutches, starters, alternators and cab suspension.
