Scania highlights drivers’ health
04/06/2007

When Scania begins the 2007 Road Show to present its vehicles and services around Sweden, health will also be a focus of attention. Drivers will be offered health screenings, ergonomic advice and massages. “To Scania, it is important that trucks are well cared for. And in the same way, drivers should be in good shape,” says Sigvard Orre of Scania Sweden.
Long days with hundreds of kilometres behind the wheel and short rest stops take their toll. A survey conducted by Scania among European truck drivers indicates that diet- and health-related issues are important to them. Given this background, Scania Sweden is choosing to expand its Road Show to include an opportunity for health screenings and advice.
A Scania health clinic on wheels is part of the company’s effort to highlight the key role of truck drivers in road safety, the environment and transport economy.

fastFORWARD leads the way
09/05/2007
fastFORWARD, the UK road transport and logistics industry's first dedicated training and careers magazine received a tremendous reception at the CV and AT Show last week and it now has a website: www.fastforwardcareers.co.uk
DAF Young Apprentice of the Year, Ross Green (Chatfields of Sheffield) performed the task of 'cutting the ribbon' on the first day of the Show in the Skills Zone.
"fastFORWARD will be a great benefit to the industry," said Ross. "When my friends and I were thinking about careers a magazine like this would have been a massive help. Also now I am working in the industry I see so many organisations involved in training and recruitment that anyone wanting to enter the industry, or is in the industry and is looking for guidance on training, is faced with a real maze of options and opportunities. fastFORWARD can pull all this information together and should be a must-read for anyone working in the industry or who has even a passing interest in a career in the road transport and logistics."
To compliment the magazine launch a new website went live last week. www.fastforwardcareers.co.uk has a news, advertising and subscription information, plus a downlaodable 16-page careers guide for 16 to 19 year-old school leavers. ROADWAY Publishing's managing editor, Peter Shakespeare said: "It is our intention to link the site to as many careers and recruitment websites as possible over the next few weeks to help raise the industry's profile."
