A pressure group that represents the temperature-controlled sector has
called on the European Union to allow a 20cm increase in trailer
lengths. Transfrigoroute
believes that cold air is currently unable to properly circulate around
pallets in a regular trailer, leading to hot spots in the load which
potentially pose a hazard to health, especially when foods and
medicines are involved.
Several trials of longer trailers are currently taking place on the
Continent, with trailers of up to 15 metres being used in some member
states.
